Flying tigers 2011

In Summer 2011, a group of educators from the Auburn City Schools, AMSTI, and Auburn University had the opportunity to participate in an amazing experience - to experience microgravity!

This is done by flying on NASA famed “Weightless Wonder” aircraft, more affectionately known as the “Vomit Comet”.

As part of this experience, the team developed a number of experiments that are based upon projects that are already part of the K-8 curriculum in Alabama schools.

It is hoped that visitors to these pages will perform the ground-based projects and then use the many photographs, videos, and lesson plans given on these pages to show what happens to these same experiments in reduced gravity and hypergravity conditions.

Thanks to many sponsors and supporters of this project.
